On 9 May 2022, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand welcomed H.E. Mr. Pham Quang Hieu, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, during the latter’s visit to Thailand on 8-11 May 2022.

Both sides emphasised the importance of enhancing strategic cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam in all aspects in order to support the socio-economic recovery of both countries from the adversities of the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainties due to the current international political situation. Both sides agreed to promote frequent exchanges of high-level visits, further enhance bilateral trade and investment, and strengthen people-to-people relations by fully utilising the existing mechanisms for cooperation between the 13 pairs of sister cities as well as the friendship associations.
