On 11 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who paid a courtesy call on the Minister on the occasion of his official visit to Thailand. Also in attendance were H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Elchin Bashirov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Thailand.

The Foreign Minister congratulated the Azerbaijani side on the official opening of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Thailand, which marks a significant development in the bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides expressed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas, including promoting trade and investment, strengthening networks between the Thai and Azerbaijani private sectors, energy transition and renewable energy, as well as enhancing connectivity, particularly given that Thailand and Azerbaijan serve as key hubs in Southeast Asia and the South Caucasus respectively—providing opportunities to deepen cooperation.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted Thailand’s potential in the agricultural sector, which contributes to global economic and food security, as well as opportunities for knowledge exchange and investment in technology, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Electric Vehicles (EV).
