On 12 March 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired a preparation meeting for a Special Programme entitled “Thailand’s Efforts to Strengthen ASEAN’s Coordination in Disaster Management and Tabletop Exercise.” In attendance were over 40 representatives from relevant Thai agencies and state enterprises, including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Public Health.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior of Thailand will co-organise at the Ministry and in Chainat Province during 26 - 27 March 2026. The Special Programme is aimed at enhancing understanding and coordination on disaster relief response in ASEAN among relevant Thai agencies, as well as countries and concerned regional and international organisations. The Deputy Permanent Secretary stressed the importance that Thailand has given to strengthening regional disaster management and resilience, while the meeting discussed ways to enhance effective disaster relief efforts in the region.
