Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs discussed at the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Open-ended Informal Senior Officials Meeting about future directions of the ACD, especially post-COVID-19, and how to strenghten the institutional framework of the ACD.
On 28 December 2020, H.E. Mr. Cherchai Chaivaivid, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs attended the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Open-ended Informal Senior Officials Meeting, hosted by Turkey via video conference to discuss about the ACD’s future directions, the institutional strengthening of the framework and the key documents to be adopted at the upcoming 17th ACD Ministerial Meeting on 21 January 2021.
Established in 2002 upon Thailand’s initiative, ACD now consists of 35 member countries from the all regions of Asia. ACD cooperation is categorised in 6 pillars; (1) connectivity (2) science, technology and innovation (3) education and human resource development (4) interrelation of food, energy and water security, where Thailand plays a key role as Co-prime mover) (5) tourism and culture and (6) inclusive and sustainable development, in which Thailand is the prime mover.
