On 6 August 2024, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Claudia Sanhueza Riveros, Under–Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Chile, during her visit to Chile to co-chair the 7th Meeting of Thailand - Chile Political Consultations hosted by Chile, and to lead a Thai business delegation to Latin America (Latin Link project) 2024. 

On this occasion, both sides discussed ways to further enhance the dynamism of Thai-Chilean economic relations. At the bilateral level, they agreed to expedite the pending issues under Thailand-Chile Free Trade Agreement (TCFTA), which is the first comprehensive FTA between Thailand and Latin American countries, and to explore the options for the negotiation of a bilateral investment treaty.

On the multilateral front, both sides discussed Thailand’s application to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Chile’s to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as cooperation in the ASEAN-Pacific Alliance (PA) arena.
