On 15 February 2025, Mr. Puwit Wisartsakul, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., hosted a Thai dinner at Thai House Restaurant in Vilnius for Ms. Edita Kriščiūnienė, Acting Head of the Indo-Pacific Directorate, and Ms. Rytė Kukulskytė, Second Secretary and Thai Desk Officer, both from the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Indo-Pacific Directorate as well as Ms. Gabija Vosyliūtė, Director of Asian Art Centre. The dinner served as an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Lithuania in various dimensions, including politics, economics, science, technology, innovation, tourism, arts and culture. The two countries are currently enjoying positive dynamics, following a number of cooperative activities in recent times.
These include the successful 4th Thailand-Lithuania Political Consultation, hosted by the Thai side, and the signing of the Agreement between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Lithuania on the Exemption of Visa Requirement for Holders of Diplomatic and Official or Service Passports in which Mr. Egidijus Meilunas, former Lithuanian Vice-Foreign Minister, visited Thailand in 2024 to co-chair the aforementioned meeting and sign the Agreement. Trade, investment, and tourism between the two countries also increased, along with three projects organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen over the past 3-4 months by bringing Lithuanian experts to Thailand as guest speakers to share knowledge on building innovation ecosystems, digital technology, cybersecurity, medical technology, and life sciences – areas in which Lithuania has expertise and Thailand has potential and interest in exchanging knowledge.
