Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka witnessed the Signing Ceremony for Memorandum of Agreement of Double Degree Program between Kasetsart University and Nara Institute of Science and Technology

On 14 July 2021, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat witnessed the Online Signing Ceremony for Memorandum of Agreement of Double Degree Program (Master’s Degree in Science and Engineering) between Kasetsart University and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) jointly signed by Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University and Professor Shiozaki Kazuhiro, President of NAIST.

On this occasion, Consul-General Krit admired this “2 -in -1 initiative” because it not only helps students save time in obtaining 2 degrees within 3 years but also gives them chance to build skills and expertise beyond their home institution. He also commended both institutions for their long-vision in contributing to Thai –Japanese - ASEAN relations by enrolling Thai, Japanese and ASEAN students. He wished the program every success and looked forward to seeing its expansion to other fields of study in the future.

The Double Degree Program originates from the collaboration between the Department of Materials Engineering, Kasetsart University and Division of Materials Science, NAIST to produce talented personnels in the fields of the science and engineering to meet world market demand. It is the first ever program at the Master’s Degree level which NAIST implements with Kasetsart University after successfully working at the PhD level with overseas institutions. The program will begin in October 2022 with English as the medium of instruction. During this 3 years period, students will spend 1.5 years at each institution. Upon completion, dual Master’s Degrees will be granted - Master of Engineering (Materials Engineering) from Kasetsart University and Master of Science / Master of Engineering from NAIST.
