On 29 July 2021 Ms. Sweeya Santipitaks, Consul-General, together with Ms. Saithong Soiphet, Director of Thai Trade Centre in New Delhi, presented Baan Thai Restaurant at the Oberoi Grand Kolkata with the Thai SELECT Certification. Restaurants with Thai SELECT logo offer Thai cuisine authenticity with least 60 percent true Thai foods on their menus, employ the same or similar cooking methods as in Thailand, and may import ingredients from Thailand.

Baan Thai has been part of Kolkata’s culinary scene for 2 decades. Wooden decors and brass statues of the restaurant bring to mind Thailand’s elegance and charm. Crave-worthy dishes are prepared by Chef Klae Somsuay, who has been with Baan Thai since 2009 as a head chef. Baan Thai’s menu offers a large variety of Thai dishes, including Kolkata’s favorites such as kaprao, green curry, and tubtim krob.
