The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with twelve African Embassies accredited to Thailand: Egypt, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Mozambique, Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Botswana and South Africa jointly organized “The Colours of Africa 2024” at Eden 1, Central World, Bangkok. The event was supported by the private partners: PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), Minor Internationals, Thai Union Group Public Company Limited, Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines.

The opening ceremony on 10 September 2024 was presided over by H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs as Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and African Ambassadors to Thailand as well as executive of the event partners. Guests included Ministry of Foreign Affairs executives, members of the diplomatic corps, international organization representatives, Honorary Consuls in Thailand, former executives of Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, former Thai Ambassadors to Africa, African and representatives from government and private sectors concerned as well as the media.

The event featured various activities such as student quiz competition, English speech contest, and painting competition themed “Africa” for junior high school students from Bangkok and the vicinity areas. There were 16 exhibition booths of African Embassies, African airlines, Thai hotels in Africa and African food and beverage exhibitors. Additionally, the event showcased African music and cultural performances, Thai - African Fashion Show as well as African cooking demonstration and African tea/coffee/cacao cupping.

The event aimed to raise awareness, broaden perspectives of the Thai public on Africa, and foster greater understanding between Thai and African communities, while promoting sustainable and progressive cooperation between Thailand and Africa.
