On May 9, 2025, H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, and Consul General Katanawadee Kalayanamit, along with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chicago, met with Thai students at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus. Phitchanaj Phongthammarug, President of the Thai Student Association (ThaiSA), led the group on a campus tour and shared perspectives on ThaiSA’s cultural initiatives, academic activities, and the university’s renowned ice hockey team.

Following the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Suriya hosted a dinner in Minneapolis for representatives from Team Thailand, local government and private sector agencies, Thai students, and members of the Thai community in Minnesota and surrounding areas.

On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Suriya expressed his appreciation to the Thai community, Minnesota’s government, and local agencies for their warm welcome. He also congratulated the Thai Cultural Council of Minnesota, Saint Louis Park, on the successful organization of the 4th annual Minnesota Songkran Festival, which was made possible by the strength of the community and partnerships with Team Thailand and the international community in Minnesota. The Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand remain committed to supporting Thai communities and continuously strengthening cooperation.
