On 3 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, welcomed the delegation of the Thai Ministry of Energy led by Dr. Sompop Pattanariyankool, Deputy Permanent Secretary, at the Thai Residence during the delegation’s visit to Canberra for the 2nd Thailand-Australia Energy Policy Dialogue.

Both sides exchanged views on the overall direction of Thailand-Australia energy cooperation, climate change and ways to further strengthen practical collaboration between relevant agencies in energy sector. They also discussed opportunities for strengthening cooperation with Australia in renewable energy, energy security, smart grids, energy storage, hydrogen, and investment in energy infrastructure, with a view to supporting the energy transition and enhancing the long-term economic resilience of both countries.

The Thailand-Australia Energy Policy Dialogue serves as an important bilateral mechanism for advancing cooperation in the energy sector between Thailand and Australia. The 2nd Dialogue, held on 4 August 2026 at Hyatt Hotel Canberra, reviewed the latest energy policy developments in both countries, assessed progress under the Thailand - Australia Energy Cooperation Work Plan, identified priorities for future collaboration, and interactions with government agencies, industry representatives and research organisations to exchange views on mobilising investment and supporting the transition to clean energy.
