Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with Ambassador of Canada to Thailand on the occasion of the completion of the Ambassador's tenure

On 10 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had discussions with H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand, upon the completion of the Ambassador's tenure.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation to Ambassador Kitnikone for her contributions to strengthening relations and cooperation between Thailand and Canada throughout her tenure. He also commended her efforts in preparing activities to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Canada in 2026, as well as in fostering closer cooperation among government agencies, the private sector, and people-to-people networks of the two countries.

Ambassador Kitnikone expressed appreciation for her time in Thailand, describing her posting as a valuable and memorable experience both personally and professionally. She also expressed appreciation for the friendship, warmth, and hospitality extended by Thailand to the diplomatic corps.

Both sides also discussed ways to further enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Thailand and Canada, as well as the interest of Canadian businesses in investing in Thailand in high-potential sectors, including advanced manufacturing, technology, energy, and human capital development. In this regard, the Thai side reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Canada to strengthen economic connectivity and create greater mutually beneficial business opportunities.
