Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh visited Thailand and co-chaired the 2nd Thailand - Bangladesh Bilateral Consultations and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation with Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand. They also unveiled the commemorative logo of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

On 1 March 2022, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, co-chaired the 2nd Thailand - Bangladesh Bilateral Consultations (BC) Meeting with H.E. Mr. Masud Bin Momen, Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides discussed and exchanged views on means to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest, especially as Thailand and Bangladesh are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The meeting followed up on the development of cooperation and ways to enhance relations in trade and investment, politics and security, tourism and culture, agriculture, human resource development, technical cooperation and connectivity. Bangladesh views Thailand as a model of development in many areas and is keen to learn from Thailand’s experiences. In addition, the Permanent Secretary highlighted Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Model as an approach for inclusive sustainable development especially in post-COVID-19 which he believed can become another area of cooperation for both countries.

Both sides reiterate their continued support for each other in regional multilateral frameworks especially the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), chaired by Thailand in 2022 - 2023, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), chaired by Bangladesh in 2021 - 2023.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a ceremony to unveil the commemorative logo of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations of Thailand and Bangladesh. The logo was co-designed by the Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. It will be used in all commemorative activities throughout the year.
