On 9 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, joined a bilateral meeting between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Cebu, the Republic of the Philippines.

Both sides discussed ways to increase cooperation in food security and energy security. The Thai side expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Government of the Philippines for Thai companies, and emphasised its readiness to supply more rice to the Philippines and increase cooperation in renewable energy. Both leaders also agreed to increase cooperation in combatting transnational crimes, especially online scams, both at the bilateral and ASEAN levels.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on regional issues, such as the situation in the Middle East and the importance of energy security in ASEAN, and the Thailand - Cambodia border situation.
