On 23 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 27th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the significant role of the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) in strengthening regional resilience and stability, including the key mechanisms under the APT, such as the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) to strengthen food security and the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM) to enhance financial stability.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation among the ASEAN Plus Three countries to enhance the region’s economic resilience through the existing free trade agreements between ASEAN and China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). He further promoted the acceleration of digital economic cooperation as a new driver of economic growth, with the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) serving as a key foundation, as well as advanced closer cooperation in human resource development to prepare for the future, particularly through the promotion of digital literacy, active ageing, and regional public health preparedness.
