On 30 June 2026, Ms. Utoomporn Ampaivit, Minister attached to the Department of Consular Affairs, together with representatives from the Immigration Bureau and the Thai delegation, witnessed H.E. Mr. Asi Mamanee, Ambassador of Thailand to the Netherlands, deposit Thailand's Instrument of Accession to the Apostille Convention with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in its capacity as the Depositary.
Afterwards, the delegation conducted a technical study visit to the District Court of The Hague (Rechtbank Den Haag) to learn about the operation of the Apostille system, with a view to applying the knowledge gained to further develop Thailand's document legalization services.
Joining the Convention will enhance public services by simplifying the document legalization process, making it faster, more convenient, and more cost-effective. This will facilitate trade, investment, education, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity between Thailand and the international community. Thailand will now enter an eight-month objection period for States Parties before its accession to the Apostille Convention takes full effect on 28 February 2027.
