On 7 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to prepare for the 48th ASEAN Summit to be held on the following day (8 May 2026). The Meeting also discussed key issues including the commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) in July this year, ways to expand and deepen relations with external partners amid the current global context, especially on dialogue partnership, and the implementation of the Five-Points Consensus (5PC), which Thailand proposed an idea on the way forward to promote calibrated re-engagement between ASEAN and the new government of Myanmar.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also attended the 31st ASEAN Political Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, the 38th ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting (ACC) and the ASEAN Joint Foreign and Economic Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-AEM), which discussed ways to enhance regional and cross-pillar cooperation in response to the impacts of the situation in the Middle East, aiming to promote ASEAN’s proactive, timely and effective measures, in particular on energy and food security and safety of ASEAN nationals.
