On 23 November 2023, Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, led 97 Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General on a study visit to the 904 Royal Volunteers Training Center, as part of the 2023 Meeting of Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General, held on 19 - 24 November 2023 in Bangkok. The visit provided the Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General the opportunity to learn more about the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the New Agricultural Theory, with a view to impart the learned experiences in supporting the enhancement of Thailand’s role in sustainable development and the promotion of Thailand’s relations with the international community.

The Ambassadors and Consuls-General learned about the work of the 904 Royal Volunteers Training Center and participated actively in various home-grown and development approach activities on sustainable agriculture and the recycling of home used items. Such activities can help improve the sustainable quality of life of the Thai people. These activities are based on the Thai culture and way of life and are in line with global sustainability standards and environmental friendly development agenda.

Thailand has a highly recognised international role on sustainable development. Thailand has been sharing best practices on the application of SEP for SDGs, through international development cooperation projects and especially during Thailand’s hosting of the APEC Leaders Meeting in 2022, which adopted the Bangkok Goals on Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy. This theme was also carried through the United States’ 2023 chairmanship of the APEC Leaders Meeting. Thailand is also ASEAN’s Coordinator on Sustainable Development.
