On 20 December 2021, H.E. Mr. Emilio de Miguel Calabia, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on
H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, to bid farewell at the end of his tenure.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador of Spain for his active role in enhancing and strengthening Thai – Spanish relations in all areas of cooperation. Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister stressed the close bilateral relations between Thailand and Spain particularly in trade and investment, cultural and tourism.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Spain expressed his impression during his four-year tenure in Thailand. In addition, the Ambassador of Spain stressed the close bilateral relations between Thailand and Spain, in particular, in education, cultural, investment and tourism and urged for the two countries to promote the exchange of high-level visits. Spain will hold the 4th Thailand-Spain Political Consultations and the 1st Thailand-Spain Forum in Madrid next year.

Both sides also exchanged views on the EU Strategy for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. On the multilateral front, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation within the frameworks of the ASEAN-EU, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as Spain will host the NATO Summit 2022, as well as ASEAN under Cambodia’s Chairmanship in 2022.

Earlier in the day, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mrs. Pornpimol Kanchanalak, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a farewell luncheon in honour of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain. The luncheon was also attended by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg , the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey and the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Kingdom of Thailand.
