H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will attend the 19th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on 24 June 2024, upon the invitation of Mr. Ali Bagheri Kani, acting Foreign Minister of Iran. At the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will discuss ways to promote strategic and enhanced cooperation among the ACD members, such as the reinvigoration of ACD activities through the improvement of ACD mechanism and institution. As well as making the best use of the ACD, as the only pan Asian forum, and its diverse resources in building partnership and bridging the gap between Asian countries and other regional forums.

The ACD is the regional forum initiated by Thailand in 2002. It currently consists of 35 Member States and represents more than 50 percent of world population. As the current ACD Chair, Iran will organize the 19th ACD Ministerial Meeting under the theme “Towards an Asian Community through Enhanced ACD”. The meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation between ACD members in the areas of mutual benefit, such as digital and ICT, tourism, inclusive and sustainable development, trade and investment and the implementation of the ACD blueprint 2021 – 2030.
