On 12 July 2019, Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka, delivered the opening remarks at the Seminar titled “Digital Industry in Thailand” organized by the Thailand Board of Investment, Osaka Office, in cooperation with the Osaka Business Development Agency, at the Nikko Hotel Osaka. The purpose of the Seminar is to introduce Japanese investors to the growing potential of digital market in Thailand, valuing 32.8 billion USD in sectors like hardware and smart devices, software, digital services, digital content and communication, nothwithstanding the expectation of its contribution to as high as 25% of Thailand’s GDP by 2027. In this regard, Thailand is advantageous, given her strategic location as the hub of ASEAN and gateway connecting to other subregions in Asia, have 3 provinces namely Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong along the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) with digital park and digital valley to support the digital industry, as well as provide both tariff and non-tariff incentives to interested investors.
