To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities between Bangkok and Astana (Nur-Sultan) this year, the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office (Akimat) of Nur-Sultan, organised “Thailand Nights”, a two-day event of  Thai cultural performances during the Astana (Nur-Sultan) Day celebrations on 7 and 8 July 2019 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Thai performers included the renowned jazz group Dr. Pathorn and the Kitasewi Jazz band, the Mai Saen Siang “Pong Lang” troupe, and the Baan Lan Puan troupe performing Lanna music and dance. The event was held at the Amphitheatre at the Yessil riverside in Nur-Sultan. Approximately 1,200 people came to enjoy the performances, which helped bring greater appreciation and awareness of Thailand and Thai culture amongst the Kazakh people.

The performers also showcased Thai culture to the diplomatic community in Nur-Sultan at a reception held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand on 9 July 2019, which was well received and attended by around 30 people.
