On 9 July 2019 the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah transferred Mr. Abdulmaree Hasem, a Thai pilgrim for Hajj season 2018 (A.H. 1439) who has fallen ill since August 2018, back to Thailand. On his return, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, has arranged an ambulance to transport the patient back to Thailand on 11 July 2019 via Su-ngai Kolok checkpoint. Mr. Abdulmaree Hasem was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nikamueso Hayeeniyae, and Dr. Faisal Ahmed M. Alzahrani, Geriatric Resident, King Fahad Hospital, Jeddah, and is now undergoing further rehabilitation at a hospital in Narathiwat Province.

Mr. Abdulmaree Hasem traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj in 2018. On 2 August 2018, he had fallen ill and was admitted to Anur Hospital in Makkah and later on was transferred to King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah. Due to his condition, doctors advised against transferring him back to Thailand. Since then he has been under the care of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah, who also facilitated the visits by his wife.

The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah has covered all expenses incurred for Dr. Faisal Ahmed M Alzahrani to provide care for the patient during the international transfer. The operation to transfer Mr. Abdulmaree back to Thailand this time was carried out by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah in close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Health. The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kota Bharu and the Yala Temporary Passport Office have liaised with the relevant Malaysian authorities concerned in facilitating the smooth transfer.

The provision of assistance to Mr. Abdulmaree is an example of the implementation of one of the core policies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and all Thai missions worldwide to protect and assist Thai nationals in distress while being outside Thailand.
