          On 30 June 2019, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai organized the Thai cooking competition “The Art of Thai Culinary 2019” at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), Dubai. The project, which was presided over by H.E. Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE and Mr. Chairat Sirivat, Consul-General of Thailand to Dubai, aims at making Thai food, cooked by Thai chefs, and its unique and authentic taste better known among the UAE residents, which aligns with the government policy of “Thailand: Kitchen of The World”

          This year, the traditional Thai dish of Lon Goong” (shrimp in coconut milk relish), and worldwide popular Thai dessert (CNN’s world’s 50 best desserts) "Tab Tim Grob" (water chestnuts in sweetened coconut milk) were chosen for 12 Thai chefs from 12 Thai restaurants Dubai to compete for excellence. The contestants were judged by the heads of “Team Thailand” (Thai government officials based in the UAE), presidents of the Thai Professional Culinary Club in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Thai food experts from Thai Catering Department, Thai Airways International, PCL and the UAE, and media representative. The Consulate was thankful to all the sponsors for this year competition, namely, Thai Smile Foodstuff Trading LLC. and Vega Foodstuff and Beverages LLC. for the cooking ingredients, and the EAHM for the venue.

          The award ceremony will be held in August 2019 where the winners of each menu and their restaurants will be presented with certificates and trophies, respectively, and the winning chefs of
Lon Goong and Tab Tim Grob will be performing cooking demonstrations as well. In addition, the restaurants of the winners of each menu will also be reviewed by the renowned food bloggers and media by courtesy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Dubai and the Middle East office.
