Ms. Boosara Kanchanalai, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C. and Royal Thai Consulate-General, Los Angeles, hosted a dinner in honour of Professor Dr. Mary-Claire King on 26 May 2019 in Seattle, Washington, and hosted a dinner in honour of Professor Brian J. Druker on 27 May 2019 in Portland, Oregon. The Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles, invited guests from the fields of Medical and Public Health in Washington, D.C. and Oregon, Thai Physicians in Washington, D.C. and Oregon and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles.
On this occasion, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. delivered remarks honouring His Royal Highness Prince Songkla, ‘The Father of Medicine of Thailand’, and congratulated the Prince Mahidol Award Laureates for their outstanding contributions which have helped to save and improve millions of patients’ lives worldwide. In addition, the Prince Mahidol Award Laureates stated that they were honored to receive the Award and were impressed by the cordial and impressive reception when they visited Thailand.
The Prince Mahidol Award, under the Royal Patronage, was established in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Songkla, on 1 January 1922, the Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of the country who made tremendous contributions to modernising Thailand’s health and medical care.
