The Projects of Latin Link and Visit of Private Sector to Mexico City, Querétaro and Guanajuato

          On 3 - 4 June 2019, Mrs. Pattrawan Vechasart, Ambassador Attached to the Ministry, led a delegation comprising Mr. Montri Mahaplerkpong, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, Mr. Chusak Chuenprayoth, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office and the National Innovation Agency, as well as business representatives from various companies, namely, C.P. Group, BYK, Phelps Dodge (electric wires), Salatan Energy (renewable energy), Vivaldi (auto parts), SWS Best Service (auto parts), Interfocus (food and cosmetics) and Lindo Mobilia (furniture and auto parts), to visit Mexico City, Querétaro and Guanajuato, the United Mexican States, under the joint Project of Latin Link of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Project of Visit of Private Sector to Potential States of Mexico of the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico, to promote exchange of visits and establishment of network between private sectors of Thailand and Mexico, strengthen Thai private sector’s competitiveness, and to seek to expand the cooperation in trade and investment between Thailand and Mexico.

          During the visit, the delegation paid courtesy calls on and had bilateral discussion with high-level representatives of the Government of Mexico such as Ms. Luz María de la Mora Sánchez, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economy of Mexico, Mr. Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, Minister of Sustainable Development of Querétaro, Mr. Mauricio Usabiaga D.B., Minister of Economic Development of Guanajuato, Mr. José Francisco Gutiérrez Michel, Minister of Agrifood and Rural Development of Guanajuato, Mr. José Erandi Bermúdez Méndez, Senator of Guanajuato; participated in the seminar on trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and Mexico to exchange views and establish network with the Mexican private sector; explored Thai investment opportunities in Mexico through meetings with local companies and Thai company already invested in Mexico, namely, Indorama; explored opportunities to export Thai products to Mexico through market survey and meeting with importers and high-end supermarkets; and explored opportunities to expand aerospace cooperation between Thailand and Mexico through meeting with Aerospace Cluster of Querétaro and Aeronautic University of Querétaro (UNAQ). The Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Chamber of Commerce also took the opportunity to sign MoUs with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) to affirm their intention to strengthen relations between the private sectors of the two countries during the visit.

          The above-mentioned joint projects between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico made the composition of the delegation more complete. Representatives from government agencies, private organizations and business enterprise took part in these projects, which gave wider and more comprehensive views and visions during the meetings.
