On 15 March 2019, H.E. Mr. Md. Nazmul Quaunine, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. Both sides agreed that Thailand and Bangladesh enjoyed close and cordial relations at all levels and encourage further exchanges of high-level visits as well as people-to-people contacts. It is believed that the goodwill among the two Governments and their peoples is the foundation for the enhancement of bilateral relations.

Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the on-going ties and cooperation between Thailand and Bangladesh in all dimensions, especially in areas of trade, investment, as well as technical and development cooperation.

Both sides acknowledged each other’s potential as a gateway to the regional markets. Thus, Thailand and Bangladesh should jointly promote connectivity between South Asia and Southeast Asia under the concept of “Connecting the Connectivities” through making use of the existing regional frameworks, especially ASEAN, BIMSTEC, ACEMEC, and IORA. In addition, both sides exchanged views on Thailand’s Chairmanship of ASEAN, in addressing the regional issues.
