The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand as the national focal point for SDG17 in Thailand convened the 4th meeting in 2018 of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) for SDGs on 17 December 2018. The OEWG for SDGs serves as a platform for CSOs to propose development issues of their concern to the government side and exchange views among relevant participants. At this meeting, in depth discussions were held on SDG4 (Education) and SDG7 (Energy).
In addition, the meeting noted the CSOs’ views on the results of Seminars on SDGs National Indicators organised by the National Statistic Office (NSO) and SDG Move. The meeting also discussed the experience from one CSO using a tool called “citizen-led monitoring” to enhance the process of local participation to implement the SDGs. All CSOs participants in the OEWG were of view that the OEWG for SDGs is a very useful platform in engaging all stakeholders, especially CSOs, in the development process. Recommendations proposed by CSOs will be put forward to all relevant agencies and be submitted to the National Committee on Sustainable Development and its related Subcommittees for their consideration.
