Following the tsunami in the aftermath of the Anak Krakatua volcanic eruption in the Sunda Strait on 22 December 2018, which resulted in injuries to hundreds of people as well as severe damage to houses and buildings in Pandeglang, Lampung, and Serang provinces, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mrs. Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, as follows:
1. Message of Condolences from H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, to H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia
Excellency,
I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of lives caused by the tsunami in the aftermath of the Anak Krakatua volcanic eruption in the Sunda Strait on 22 December 2018, which also resulted in injuries to hundreds of people as well as severe damage to houses and buildings in southern Sumatra.
On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, I wish to extend to you, and through you, my sincere condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims of this devastating natural disaster. I am confident that, under your able guidance, the situation will be restored to normalcy soon.

I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy and condolences, through you, to the victims of the tsunami in the Sunda Strait on 22 December 2018, which caused the loss of hundreds of lives, injuries and destruction of homes and buildings in southern Sumatra. During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones, and I offer my best wishes to those injured for their speedy recovery.
