On 13 November 2018, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Teodoro Lopez Locsin, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, at the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Singapore.

      The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand congratulated the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs on the latter’s assumption of duty as Foreign Secretary. Both sides discussed various issues of mutual interest including the celebration of he 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Philippines in 2019, and discussed the possibility to convene the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) and the Joint Trade Committee (JBT) in 2019 at mutually convenient dates.

      The Foreign Secretary expressed the Philippines' readiness to support Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand thanked the Philippines, and reaffirmed that, as the incoming ASEAN Chair, Thailand will continue to carry on the work under the respective themes announced by the Philippines as ASEAN Chair in 2017, and as well as that of Singapore, the current Chair. Both sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest.
