It was during the conversation between Ambassador Nantana and Tony Eastaway, an old friend of Thailand, that the name Tibor N. Olgay was mentioned. The name was known for Embassy staff as the architect who designed and constructed the Thai residence 48 years ago, but nothing much more than that. Thanks to Tony, who happens to be close friend of Tibor, a meeting was arranged.

On 24 September, Ambassador Nantana, Minister Thippawan Supamitkitja, and Minister Counsellor Vathayudh Vichankaiyakij, together with Tony Eastaway met Tibor at Yallambee Lodge in Cooma. He watched the photo of the Thai residence and then he said, "This brings back a lot of memories." Then Tibor started to share the story of how he was involved in the project and how difficult it was to put the roof, designed in classical Thai style to match with the rest of the house. "You did a very good job. 15 Thai Ambassadors have lived there, all with fond memory during their stay in that house. Thank you very very much," said the Ambassador. Tibor gave us a very big happy smile, and we all felt the same.
