During 17 – 18 September 2018, the Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), organised the Thai – OECD Conference on Investment Policy under the theme “Maximising the benefits of investment in Thailand” at Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, Bangkok. Mrs. Vilawan Mangklanatakul, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, delivered an opening remark and was a panelist in the session on “Perspectives on Investment and Reform of Investor-State Dispute Settlement”. The conference was successfully concluded with more than 80 participants from relevant government agencies.

The Director-General also chaired an inter–agency meeting between Thai government agencies and the OECD with an aim to establish common understanding on the outline and the work plan of the Investment Policy Review (IPR) report which will be conducted by the OECD analysts and experts.

Both activities are under the auspices of the project “Improving the Business Climate through an OECD Investment Policy Review” which is under the umbrella of Thailand – OECD Country Programme (CP). The project aims to conduct an analytical report on investment context and environment of Thailand which will be applied to assess Thailand’s investment condition in various aspects, including rules and regulations on investments, investment protection policies and trends of inward and outward investment in Thailand. The IPR process will be conducted in three phases and is expected to be completed in March 2020.
