Ministry of Foreign Affairs Makes a Contribution to the 2018 Orientation Programme for Thai Recipients of the Government of Arab Republic of Egypt Scholarship

          On 28 August 2018, Mr. Krerkpan Roekchamnong, Ambassador Attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, handed over an assistance of THB 300,000 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, represented by Mr. Khumpyr Disttakorn, Director of the Sheikhul Islam Office. This contribution was in support of the orientation programme for Thai students who were awarded scholarships from the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to further their studies at Al Azhar University, Cairo. Mr. Somchai Jehwangma, Deputy Director of Sheikhul Islam Office, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also witnessed the handover ceremony.

          On this occasion, both sides discussed cooperation on education and the welfare of Thai Muslim students in Egypt. The representative of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand expressed sincere gratitude for the continued assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in support of the orientation programme. This year’s orientation programme will be organised from 31 August – 3 September 2018 in Nakhon Nayok Province.

          Since 2009, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been collaborating with the Sheikhul Islam Office of Thailand and the Central Islamic Council of Thailand in organising the orientation programme every year, which is aimed at providing introductory courses for Thai students who will further their studies in Egypt.
