7th Thai Youth Initiative against Drugs 2018

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand organized the final round of contest among the youths competing in the 7th Thai Youth Initiative against Drugs 2018 Project on 10 August 2018 at Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building, Chulalongkorn University. It was presided by Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations.
 
The contest was held to select the best video clip, introduced in English, from 5 youth teams who were selected from the previous round. This year’s winner is from Charoensin Suksa "Phokham's Memorial" School, Sakon Nakhon Province, and the first runner-up team is from Samakkhi Witthayakhom School, Chiang Rai Province. The winner and the first runner-up received an award of 15,000 baht and 10,000 baht, respectively. In addition, both teams will join an upcoming study trip on narcotic drugs prevention in China.
 
The Thai Youth Initiative against Drugs Project was organized by the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in collaboration with Office of the Narcotics Control Board, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Government Public Relations Department, and True Corporation PCL. The Project requires youth contestants to create 3-minute video clips to raise awareness on the dangers of narcotic drugs among young people. The first contest was held in 2012 and has continued annually for the 7th time this year. The top five best video clips were selected in the first round on the basis of creativity, accuracy of language, story that corresponds to the theme of the contest, presentation and technique as well as production quality. The top 5 teams made oral presentations to the Selection Committee of the Project in English during the final round.
 
Aside from the aforementioned teams, Assumption College Thonburi School Team, Bangkok, received an award as Second Runner-up, and two Honourable Mention awards were given to Kheumyaiwittaya School Team, Amnat Charoen Province, and Dong Sawang Witthaya School Team, Ubon Ratchathani Province, while Rangsee Vittaya School received the Popular Vote award.
