During the course of the fiscal year 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has supported the Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand under the Patronage of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand to enable the Association’s staff members to accompany the Thai representatives to the international Al Qur’an recitation and memorisation competitions as follows:
1. The 8th Southeast Asian Youth Al Qur’an Reading Competition, during 24 - 26 October 2017, in Brunei Darussalam
2. The Annual Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Alu Su’ud Competition on the Memorization of Quran and Sunnah for ASEAN and Pacific Countries, during 19 - 22 March 2018, in Indonesia
3. The 25th Universal Glorious Qur’an Competition 2018/1439, during 24 - 29 March 2018, in Egypt
4. The International Kuwait Prizes for Memorizing, Recitation and Tajweed of the Qur’an, during 11-18 April 2018, in Kuwait
5. The 60th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly 1439H/2018, during 7 - 12 May 2018, in Malaysia
6. The Dubai International Holy Quran Award 22nd Session - Ramadan 1439 H, during 1 - 6 June 2018, in United Arab Emirates
In addition to the above-mentioned international competitions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also provided sponsorship for the Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand to organise Thailand’s National Al-Quran Memorization Competition (Central Region) which was held on 9 March 2018 at the Islamic Center of Thailand Foundation in Bangkok.
In this regard, the Ministry wishes to congratulate all the representatives who participated in the above-mentioned competitions. The Ministry’s support to the Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand is in line with the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote Thai Muslims in the relevant international fora. Moreover, the staff members from the Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand had opportunities to meet with the Thai Muslim students abroad and gave them useful advice on further education and future career during their visits.
Since 2006, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has continuously supported the Muslim Association of Al-Quran Reader of Thailand under the Patronage of the Sheikh Islam of Thailand with the aim of providing the Thai Qur’an reciters and hafiz with opportunities to advance their skills, build networks, and to promote people-to-people relations between Thailand and other countries in the Muslim world.
