           On 30 June 2018, His Excellency Mr. Chaisiri Anamarn, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand presided over the opening ceremony of the “Thai Festival @ Copenhagen 2018” at Havneparken, Islands Brygge, together with His Excellency Mr. Vichit Chitvimarn Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, Mr. Carsten Dencker, Honorary Chairman of Asia House and Honorary Consul-General of Thailand, representatives of Team Thailand in Copenhagen, President of the National Food Institute of Thailand, Director-General of the Department of Community Development, and Assistant to the Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support.

             At the Festival, there were 27 booths offering Thai food and beverages as well as various Thai products. There were also booths from Team Thailand including Department of International Trade Promotion, Board of Investment of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International as well as the booths of the National Food Institute of Thailand, Department of Community Development and the Department of Health Service Support which came from Thailand to attend the festival. The Thai Festival also featured traditional Thai performance from Nakorn Ratchasima Ratchabhat University and a variety of cultural performance by member of the Thai Community in Denmark including live music, dancing and Muay Thai. Lucky draws for two round-trip tickets between Copenhagen and Bangkok sponsored by Thai Airways International and quiz games sponsored by ILLUM, Pandora and ECCO were also highlights of the Festival.

            The Royal Thai Embassy has organized the Thai Festival in Copenhagen consecutively for 10 years. The objective of the Festival is to foster better understanding about Thailand among the Danish people by using Thai food and culture as a medium so as to promote tourism, trade and investment as well as the people-to-people contacts between the two countries. The Thai Festival also helps to bring Thai community closer together and gives an opportunity for the younger Thai-Danish generations to learn and maintain their Thai heritage. This year's Festival was a great success with approximately 25,000- 30,000 people attended including both Danes and Thais living in Denmark as well as other tourists.
