On 24 May 2018, H.E. Ms. Eva Hager, Austrian Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

          The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated the Austrian Ambassador on her assumption of duty. Both sides discussed ways and means to enhance economic relations as well as bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science, technology and innovation, and culture, in the context of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Thai - Austrian diplomatic relations in 2018 and the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between Thailand and Austria in 2019. Both sides also discussed possible cooperation in the context of the Austrian Chairmanship of the EU Presidency in 2018 and Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019.

          In addition, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of Austrian expertise which corresponds to Thailand’s targeted industries such as railway development, Smart City planning and vocational education.
