Royal Thai Embassy organised Mobile Consular Unit at Tuas View Dormitory

          On Wednesday 30 May 2018, at 20.30 hrs., H.E. Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Ambassador designate of Thailand to Singapore, together with officers from Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, visited Thai workers at Tuas View Dormitory and to check on the living conditions of Thai workers residing in this dormitory. The event was co-sponsored by the Office of Labour Affairs, Singapore.

          Sited on approximately 84,000 Sq. m. in Tuas area, western part of Singapore, the dormitory is the largest worker dormitory in Singapore, which can accommodate up to 16,800 workers. Tuas View Dormitory started its operation in August 2014 under management of TS Management Service. The dormitory equipped with cooking and food preparation area, laundry area and common dining cum interacting area. It also has supermarket, recreational/multi-purpose room, nursing room, and movie theatre. Today, the dormitory has workers from different countries living together, mostly from India, Bangladesh, China, Philippines, and Thailand. These workers are from marine, manufacturing and process sectors. Currently, there are about 500 Thai workers resides in this dormitory. They are in construction sector and welder. 

          Mr. Ambassador also discussed with Thai workers on their well-beings and provided recommendation on how to live a quality life in Singapore. Officers from consular section also provided advices and consultation on consular services to the Thai workers. Simple blood measurement was also conducted for the Thai workers as medical precaution measure.
