On 14 May 2018, H.E. Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, during his visit to Thailand to attend the 74th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The two Ministers exchanged views on important bilateral and international issues, including cooperation on assistance in the Rakhine State, Thailand’s interest to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as regional issues such as the outcome of the China – Japan – South Korea Trilateral Summit on 9 May 2018 and the 8th Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit which Thailand will host in June 2018. The Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to co-chair the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) in Bangkok with Japan.
