On 4 May 2018, H.E. Ms. Raushan Yesbulatova, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated the Ambassador of Kazakhstan on her assumption of duty. Both sides discussed ways and means to enhance bilateral relations and reiterated the importance of the Meeting of Joint Commission (JC) for Bilateral Cooperation as the framework to enhance bilateral cooperation andparticularly the determination to translate the outcome of the 3rd JC Meeting which was held in June 2017, into practical results. In addition, both sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral trade and investment as well as bilateral cooperation on agricultural products and tourism promotion. The prospects for enhancing collaboration within regional and multilateral frameworks including ASEAN and the United Nations were also discussed.

Thailand and Kazakhstan have enjoyed close and cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. Currently, Kazakhstan is Thailand’s largest trading partner in Central Asia while Thailand is among the top 15 most popular destinations for Kazakhstani tourists. Almost 60,000 Kazakhstani tourists visited Thailand in 2017.
