H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. George Sharvashidze, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on 29 March 2018 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance closer relations through the opening of honorary consulates in each other’s country and the promotion of cooperation and exchanges of experiences with each other in various fields, especially trade, agriculture, tourism and development. Moreover, both sides agreed to hold Political Consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs at the earliest opportunity. They also expressed interest in pushing forward the signing of agreements of mutual interest, for example, on investment, tourism and the exemption of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand also took the opportunity to invite Georgia to utilise Thailand’s economic and geographical potential as the gateway for Georgia to access the large markets of ASEAN and the Greater Mekong Sub-region.
