Humanitarian Assistance to Displaced Persons in Bangladesh

          On 15 March 2018, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, presented a pledging letter to contribute USD 100,000 to Mr. Shinji Kubo, Acting Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Office in Thailand, for humanitarian assistance to the displaced persons in Bangladesh. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh also witnessed the presentation. 

          Over the past year, the Royal Thai Government has already contributed USD 450,000 for humanitarian assistance to the displaced persons in Bangladesh. The contribution was made through various international organizations, namely the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Food Programme (WFP). The Thai Red Cross Society has also donated USD 100,000 to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to help the affected persons from the situation in Rakhine State in Cox’s Bazar.
