On 8 March 2018, Deputy Consul-General Naruchai Ninnad attended the Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly 2018 General Meeting at Shin Miyako Hotel “Yomeiden”, Kyoto. Mr. Masaharu Murata, Chairman of the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly and Mr. Shuichi Yamauchi, Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, also attended the meeting.
The Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly, with Mr. Hiroshi Sugaya as the chairman, has 42 members. In close coordination with the Royal Thai Consulate -General in Osaka and the Japan - Thailand Education Exchange Society, it has carried out several activities to promote Thailand - Japan relations. On 14 October 2018, it will support the organization of the “3rd Thailand-Japan Culture Fair in Kyoto” to promote Thailand-Japan friendship in Kyoto.
In his remarks during the opening session, the Deputy Consul-General emphasized the historical importance of Kyoto, its reputations on the development of new advanced technology and innovation and the success story of “Kyoto Smart City”. The Deputy Consul-General recognized the important role played by Kyoto in fostering Thailand-Japan relations through bilateral cooperation in various areas and regular visits of Thai delegates to Kyoto. The Deputy Consul-General also reaffirmed the Royal Thai Consulate-General’s readiness to work closely with the Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly to further enhance the close ties of friendship between Thailand and Japan.
