On 17 January 2018, H.E. Mr. Surasak Suparat, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil made a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs.  Yldiz D. Pollack-Beighle, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname in Paramaribo as H.E. Mr. Suparat was appointed to be the Thai Ambassador to Suriname, residence in Brasilia.  

             During the meeting, the Suriname Foreign Minister and the Thai Ambassador discussed on matters to further strengthen the close cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in education, development and trade. They also took the opportunity to congratulate on the auspicious occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Suriname.
