On ๑๘ January ๒๐๑๘, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia, with the cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Suriname, held a reception to celebrate the ๓๐th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Suriname at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Paramaribo.  About ๑๐๐ people from the Government and private sector of Suriname and diplomatic corps participated in the reception.

            H.E. Mrs. Yldiz Pollack-Beighle, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname gave a remarks congratulating both countries for the long ties of friendship and wishing that the two countries would continue to develop more in trade, economic, development cooperation and education.  H.E. Mr. Surasak Suparat, Thai Ambassador-designate to Suriname also delivered a remarks touching upon the close and cordial friendship between Thailand and Suriname and expressing readiness to expand trade, investment, cultural and tourism cooperation.  Besides the Thai foods, which impressed all guests, the presentation of Thai tourism and culture along with Thai music were entertained throughout the event.

            The diplomatic relations between the two countries was established on ๒๔ February ๑๙๘๗.
