On November 9th 2017, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand met with H.E. Mr. Masamichi Kono, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the sidelines of the 29th APEC Ministerial Meeting, held in Da Nang, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. At the meeting, the Foreign Minister took the opportunity to congratulate Deputy SG Kono upon his recent appointment in August 2017. Both sides held discussions on a wide range of issues centered on deepening cooperation between the Royal Thai Government and OECD. This included the Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP), which was recently held in August this year and hosted by Thailand. Furthermore, the impending establishment of the OECD Country Programme (CP) for Thailand was discussed, ensuring that Thailand will become the first country among ASEAN members to have to have this partnership with OECD. The CP will be based on Thailand’s reform agenda including the 20-Year National Stregy (2017-2036) and the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan (2017-2021). Furthermore, both sides agreed that their cooperation will be in line with the sustainable development goals of both Thailand and the United Nations.
