On 12 October 2017, H.E. Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and as Chair of the Working Committee on the Organizing of the Royal Cremation Ceremony, presented 96 bouquets of special ceremonial sandalwood flowers sent from Thai Ambassadors, Consuls-General and Chargés d’Affaires a.i. abroad as well as 94 bouquets of sandalwood flowers from Thai people overseas registered as volunteers during the Royal Cremation Ceremony to the Royal Household Bureau. In this regard, General Siwa Pramorntad, Commander of the Control Center for the Volunteer Project* under the Initiative of H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, accepted the bouquets, which will be offered at the Hor Plueang (Dismantling Hall) of the Phra Meru Mas (Royal Crematorium) during the Royal Cremation Ceremony to be held on 26 October 2017.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on the Organizing of the Royal Cremation Ceremony of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates-General across the world have held advance ceremonies in September 2017 to offer special bouquets of sandalwood flowers by Ambassadors and Consuls-General representing members of Team Thailand as well as all Thai citizens residing overseas. In addition, all the Thai people abroad who have registered for volunteer services during the Royal Cremation Ceremony have gathered to craft bouquets of sandalwood flowers to show their gratitude for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The bouquets sent to Thailand will give all Thais residing abroad a final opportunity to pay their last respects and mourn the passing of the late King His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
