On 19 September 2017, at the sideline of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, H.E. Don Pamudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates. Gist of the said meeting as follows:

           Minister of State of UAE reaffirmed the strong  relations that exist between the two countries, as well as  reiterated UAE's readiness to expand cooperation in the field of energy (oil and gas) since UAE is one of the world’s leading energy reserves (oil and natural gas). He also expressed interest in enhancing cooperation and investment in the energy area with Thailand.

              Foreign Minister Don informed that he attended the 15th Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Abu Dhabi in January 2017 during which he attended an energy exhibition organised by UAE. In November 2017, Thailand will host the 7th Roundtable of Asian Ministers of Energy Meeting in Bangkok and looked forward to welcoming the UAE delegation to  the meeting. In addition, he invited UAE to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) since the project also supports  the Belt and Road initiative of China and links the Indian and Pacific Oceans. In this regard,  he also extended an invitation to the Minister of State of UAE to visit Thailand.
