Mr. Mariano Rajoy Brey, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, while H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Alfonso Maria Dastis Quecedo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, as follows:

Message of Condolences from H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to H.E. Mr. Mariano Rajoy Brey, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain

Excellency,

I am profoundly shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific terrorist attack in Barcelona on 17 August 2017 in which several innocent lives were lost and numerous people were injured.

Thailand stands by with Spain in strongly condemning this despicable act of violence. The deliberate targeting of civilians is once more a proof of the perpetrators’ total disregard for human life. Thailand remains firmly committed to working with Spain and the international community in the fight against terrorism in all its manifestations.

In this moment of mourning, I wish to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to Your Excellency and, through you, to the bereaved families affected by this horrific event.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Ret.)
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand

Message of Condolences from H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, to H.E. Mr. Alfonso Maria Dastis Quecedo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain

Excellency,

It is with my deepest sense of shock and sadness to learn of the terrorist attack in such an animated and popular street as Barcelona’s La Rambla where 13 innocent lives were lost and countless injured.

This brutal and cowardly act of terrorism is yet another attempt to instill widespread fear in our societies. Thailand remains committed to work with Spain and the international community in countering terrorism and violent extremism and to strengthening our resolve to tackle them in all its forms.

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to extend to you and, through you, to the bereaved families, our profound condolences and sympathy for their irreparable loss and for the injured a speedy and full recovery.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

Don Pramudwinai
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand
