On 26 July 2017, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal co – signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Diplomatic Training and the Exchange of Information and Documentation.  The MoU was signed by H.E. Ambassador Nongnuth Phetcharatana, Dean of the DVIFA, and H.E. Ms. Ana Martinho, Secretary – General of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal. The ceremony was attended and witnessed by H.E. Mr. Chatri Srichaowana, the Ambassador of Thailand to Portugal, the Director of Diplomatic Academy of Portugal, and the Director –General of Department Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.

          Under the MoU, both sides agree to enhance cooperation on diplomatic training by undertaking exchange of information, publications and personnel in areas of mutual interest. The MoU also includes the arrangement of internship programme for Thai diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal which would result in the strengthening of people-to-people relations between both countries.
